The SVAT PI1000 is an ingenious combination digital video recorder (DVR) and a colour pinhole camera integrated in to an amazingly realistic looking motion sensor casing. Images are recorded in MPEG4 format for a great mix of quality and space savings, on to a standard SD memory card and can either be replayed using the PI1000 itself or transferred to a PC for play back. The PI1000 comes with a 1GB SD card and supports up to 32GB SD or SDHC cards, available here.
Video footage can be recorded using three different modes: Continuous, Scheduled, or Motion Detection. Recordings are time and date stamped. It features auto white balance, auto electronic shutter and auto gain control for good quality images without messing with settings. It can record in either 320x240 or 640x480 resolutions and has selectable compression and frame rates.
The PI1000 can be table top or wall mounted. It can be powered by the included AC power adapter or it will run for up to 17 hours in motion recording mode or 12 hours continuously with good quality lithium batteries. The DVR features on-screen display for playback and set-up functions. Just plug it in to a TV. Recordings can be paused, reversed, played a frame at a time, or at 1X, 2X, 4X, 8X, 16X, 32X for quick review. Footage can also be searched by date and time.
