UPB is an extremely reliable powerline technology used in residential and commercial applications for lighting and appliance control and automation using existing power wires for communications.  Applications include home and commercial lighting automation, security and garden features automation.

Simplicity

No new wiring required.  UPB uses existing electrical wiring to communicate.  Lighting controls and scenes can be set up peer-to-peer without requiring an external controller or timed automation can be achieved with a simple timer controller.

Faster and More Reliable

UPB is 20 to 40 times the speed of X-10 making controls almost instantaneous.  Two way communications ensure hardware and software can track the status of lights.  Higher signal strength (20x higher than X10) makes for much higher reliabilty.  UPB doesn't suffer from phantom signals causing devices to turn on/off on their own.

Secure

UPB incorporates up to 64,000 total address compared to 256 for X10 with security built-in.

Flexibility

Simply Automated switches support multiple faceplate colours to fit in to any decor.  Their US2 series of switches support multiple faceplates including single, double, triple, quad rockers and pushbuttons for controlling the local load as well as other UPB lights and scenes.  LEDs can be programmed to display in different colours and fashions to indicate load status.
