This is Smarthome's best dimmer switch, supporting Insteon™ technology as well as X10 so you get the best of both worlds and those with X10 systems can integrate it into your existing set-up.

The SwitchLinc dimmer has all the features you would expect in a premium product including true rocker action, adjustable on levels, adjustable fade on/off rates, scene capability.

True rocker action means you tap the top to turn on, tap the bottom to turn off, hold the top to brighten, hold the bottom to dim. It's very intuitive for anyone in the house to use. Fade on/off means that your lights will fade on, fade off gradually for a stunning effect and to increase bulb life. The fade on/off rate and the initial brightness level when turned on, can both be set by the user. It also supports pre-set dim levels from remote controls so that one command will turn the light to exactly the right brightness level without having to go full bright first. This switch can be a member of multiple lighting scenes, allowing a single keypad press or signal to command multiple switches and dimmers to go to a pre-determined user selectable brightness level! Fully 2 way communication means that the controller can tell if the switch is on/off or if it responded to the last request for much better reliability. It will also respond to X10 status requests as well as transmitting it's status when it's used locally at the switch.

Insteon transmits its signal faster than X10 and is a redundant protocol, in that every receiver confirms when it receives and processes a command from the transmitter. And since each receiver is also a repeater, the more switches you have in the house, the more reliable the system becomes.

When used in X10 mode, this switch is fully compatible with other X10 transmitters and even features 2-way communication so it will confirm it's status when polled or controlled locally! In X-10 mode, SignaLincs are NOT required.

Each Insteon installation should start with a 2443P Accesspoint/Coupler pair or 2406H breaker panel mounted coupler.

The colours of the LED indicators and paddles can both be changed by purchasing a colour change kit. Please note that no trim plate is included, screwless wallplates are available.

For a 3 Way, 4 Way or Multi-Way situation, install one 2476D controlling the load(light), then install additional 2476D units as needed simply giving them power and then create an INSTEON link back and forth between units. Using this technique you can create 3 way switching anywhere in the house!
